County's unspoiled wilderness areas including,
Lutsen Mountain, Minnesota's finest downhill
ski area. The John Beargrease Dog Sled Race
is run each year in mid-January.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
Pristine, clear waters, pine and birch forest, native
wildlife and the solitude of the true wilderness.
Gunflint Trail Starting in Grand Marais,
the Trail winds 58 miles through the Superior
National Forest, with glacial lakes, wooded hills,
and legends of pioneers and fur traders.
18 miles from Lutsen Mountain Ski Area,
the Midwest's only gondola lift, vertical rise 1088 feet.
34 runs. Gondola rides are also available in the summer
season.
Lake Superior Circle Tour, a spectacular,
beautiful drive around the lake. Starting in Duluth to
Grand Marais, then into Ontario, Canad,. Sioux St. Marie,
Michigan and across Wisconsin back to Duluth.
Grand Marais Art Colony: The North Shore
has a reputation for attracting talented artists to study
the visual arts. The colony offers classes and exhibits
their work in frequent shows in the local art galleries.
